Hopefully you had a wonderful experience with us fitting into your new custom orthotics!
Please take some time to read the break-in instructions we spoke about in the office today...
Your body needs to gradually become familiar with your new orthotics. How come you ask? By putting your feet in their Natural Balance state, the rest of your body is not acclimated to this new position, as your body was likely compensating by being in a previously unnatural position or posture. If you disregard, you risk overusing and possibly injuring muscles and tendons that have been seldom used up to this point.
Our philosophy at Natural Balance is orthotics should never be painful or uncomfortable. If they are for whatever reason, take them off and schedule an appointment with us as soon as possible.
Sports Orthotics: First week -add an hour per day. No sports activities for the first ten days. After wearing them comfortably for a full day without discomfort, you can now use them for your sports activities/exercising.
Skate Orthotics: They have been sized to your everyday shoes - they will need to be trimmed in a couple of weeks to fit into your skates. First week - regular wear, one hour per day. Second week - regular wear, add an hour per day. Third week - once they have been trimmed to your skates, wear 15 minutes for first 2-3 days on ice, then add 15 minutes each day following. Make sure to check for any irritation or redness when you take them off.
Please call if you have any questions about the break-in instructions!
